Tenuta di Blasig Vineyards

Friuli is a region in the north-east of Italy bordering with Croatia. The Isonzo is a river which flows down from the hills to the Gulf of Trieste and the Adriatic Sea, through mostly flatlands, and its wines enjoy a growing reputation.

THE HISTORY

A family, a name, a place, and a history. As is often the case in these parts, passion for the countryside, ideals, and the love of beauty, virtue, and good work are intertwined.

The Blasig family has lived in this region for over three centuries, actively participating in its reclamation and development. In 1850, Domenico Di Blasig was mayor of Ronchi.

His family home, an early 19th century villa located in the middle of town, was already historic and destined to remain so. It was chosen as a command post for Allied forces during World War I. It was also a favorite of the poet, author, and patriot Gabriele d'Annunzio during his stays in this region, which was so dear to him. Today, Villa Blasig is still a home as well as headquarters for the vineyard and winery. When you pass through the main entrance gate, you notice the care devoted to detail which comes through in our wines.

Pinot Grigio

The Blasig's pale gold color in the glass leads to fresh, appetizing aromas of lemons, bitter almonds and pears. Zesty and clean on the palate, with notes of citrus fruit and crushed minerals on the wine's long, clean and fresh finish. Enjoy this classic Friulian Pinot Grigio with white-fleshed fish dishes, light salads with warm goat cheese, or perfect with Shrimp Scampi.

Merlot

This wine is made from Merlot grapes, a widespread variety throughout the Friuli region. A good candidate for aging in your cellar, it is ruby red in color. It has a characteristic wild berry and herbaceous perfume with blueberry, raspberry, and cherry flavors that evolve into a more ethereal bouquet due to its aging in small barrels (barriques) for 12 to 16 months.
